Advanced Dental Technology Annandale

Modernized Technology for Better Patient Care

At Smilescrafters of Annandale, we recognize the value and benefit of providing advanced dental technology to our patients. Unlike those used in the past, new devices, systems, and equipment make it easier to ensure greater precision while producing more accurate results. In addition, their ability to deliver a more comfortable approach to dentistry makes the use of our CT scanner, soft tissue laser, digital impressions, and other devices more enjoyable for both our team and our patients. Discover more about the technology we use in-house below.

Digital Impressions

Digital impressions are now used to capture a more accurate mold of a patient’s mouth as opposed to the traditional dental putty used before. Instead of inducing a person’s gag reflex or having them wait for the mold to set, we use a handheld device that quickly scans the intricacies of their teeth, gums, and bite. This produces a three-dimensional model that can be sent to a dental laboratory or our in-house CEREC milling unit for faster production.

Soft Tissue Laser

Instead of using traditional scalpels and sutures, Dr. Nada opts for a more conservative and comfortable approach with our soft tissue laser. Complete with a concentrated beam of light, the pen-like device can be used to swiftly eliminate harmful oral bacteria as well as perform essential gum disease treatment to improve a patient’s gums and overall health. By using a soft tissue laser, we can reduce bleeding and swelling, minimize discomfort after treatment, and decrease the amount of time spent recovering at home.

CEREC Same-Day Technology

When a patient requires a dental crown to repair a damaged or decayed tooth, we can use our CEREC system to produce customized restorations in a single appointment. Used in combination with CAD/CAM technology, Dr. Nada can take digital impressions of the tooth before sending the 3D model to our in-house milling unit. From there, a solid piece of porcelain is used to fabricate the restoration so that it matches the specifications provided. All of this occurs while you wait so that once it’s ready, we can secure it in place to create a functional, healthy, and beautiful smile.

CT/Cone Beam Scanner

Certain services such as dental implant placement or root canal treatment require extensive planning. As a result, more in-depth imaging is needed. While Dr. Nada relies heavily on digital X-rays to show what is happening beneath the gumline, our CT cone beam scanner offers higher-resolution, three-dimensional scans of your oral and facial anatomy. This allows for a more detailed approach, as we can easily view your jawbone density, nerves, bones, blood vessels, and more to produce a cohesive and streamlined treatment plan.

Intraoral Camera

As a camera-tipped, handheld device, our intraoral camera allows Dr. Nada to see a more enhanced view of your teeth and gums. When used to scan the inside of your mouth, she can pinpoint any small areas of decay and readily show you on a chairside monitor. Its diagnostic imaging capabilities not only allow for faster treatment, but we can take the time to explain why a particular service is required and how it will benefit your smile in the long run.
